Artiste Manager, Bulldog has described President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as ‘senseless and a failure following the executive instrument that prescribes that people who do not put on their facemasks will be imprisoned for 10 years.
Henceforth, people who fail to wear face masks in public would be committing an offence that carries a prison sentence of four to 10 years or a fine of GH¢12,000 to GH¢60,000, or both.
This was contained in a new Executive Instrument (E.I. 164) signed by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on June 15, 2020, as part of measures to curb the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID -19).
Per E.I. 164, which was gazetted on Monday, June 15, the mandatory wearing of face masks shall be in force for three months and shall apply to all parts of Ghana.
The E.I. was issued by the President pursuant to the powers granted him under the Imposition of Restrictions Act, 2020 (Act 1012).
But reacting to this, Bulldog says it is senseless for the Akufo-Addo led government after failing Ghanaians to think of arresting people who are trying to rise up from where they fell due to COVID-19.
He said what saddens him is the fact that the government did not provide facemasks but wants people who cannot even feed themselves to waste money on facemasks.
Bulldog said “This is senseless and insensitive! You promised 1 this 1 that and you failed woefully! You cannot deliver ordinary 1 mask 😷 1 person? Even before Covid hit us, people could barely feed based on the haphazard way you run this economy! Now that we are down and out and finding our feet you threaten imprisonments and fines? If so, what is your purpose as an administrator of Ghana’s wealth? What happened to all the grants and loans you got in the name of covid19? Can’t you provide free protective masks to the helpless and vulnerable in society? When other governments around the world are helping their citizens in these unfortunate times you are here worsening our plight.Shame on you!!!You go see this December!!!”
