Kennedy Agyapong, Member of Parliament for Assin Central, has urged the New Patriotic Party’s rank and file to unite and fight for victory in 2024.
Kennedy Agyapong, speaking on Net2 TV on Wednesday, March 10, said that only a united front would help the party win the next elections.
He encouraged the party and its representatives to take crucial lessons from the 2020 elections and obey them.
He noted that while President Akufo-Addo did well in the polls, members of parliament did not do as well.
This, he says, is due to the schism within the party’s districts in the run-up to the election.
In an attempt to persuade the government of the value of parliament, Kennedy Agyapong chastised members of the minority for their actions during President Akufo-State Addo‘s of the Nation Address.
He argues that the MPs’ conduct, which he compares to that of adolescents, is due to the composition of the 8th Parliament.
“Whatever we’re going through right now, I believe it will teach us something. We will secure the 2024 election if we do not forget it. We are doomed if we ignore it.
“A lot of people said they’d vote skirt and blouse during the referendum, and it happened. They had no idea how important MPs were, but if you look at what’s going on with parliamentarians acting like teenagers, crying, hooting, and all that, it’s because we have equal numbers on both sides.”
“Let us join and come together. If you look at the government’s results, it was great, but we gave the elections away. When you consider all that is going on and the frustrations that people are experiencing, we should band together,” he said.
