Communication head bureau of the opposition National Democratic Congress, Mr. Sammy Gyamfi has indicated that it is not right for any lawyer to rain insults on the fellow.
Sammy Gyamfi was responding to the usual banter among lawyers after every hearing of the Election Petition case on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen political program.
He indicated that lawyers from the New Patriotic Party are particularly known for using unprintable words on Tstatsu Tsikatsa.
According to Sammy Gyamfi, members of the NDC Legal team have always made their submission to the press without insults, but the same cannot be said on the other side.
He dared the Member of Parliament for Sekondi, Andrew Egyapa Mercer who was also on the program to deny or otherwise the claims.
He advised members of the NPP legal team to respect Tsatsu Tsikata for the level he has attained as a lawyer.
“We are all at the bar and it is only right to give respect to seniors. Tsatsu Tsikata has been a very experienced lawyer in Ghana and it is not for anybody to disobey him. Anytime NPP lawyers get the opportunity they start speaking against him. They even insult him. Since this election Petition started, none of the NDC lawyers have insulted the lead counsel of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo. Andrew Egyapa Mercer cannot deny what I’m saying”. Mr. Sammy Gyamfi noted.
Responding to news making round in the media suggestion Dominic Ayini has been cited for contempt, Mr. Sammy Gyamfi denied the reports. He indicated that, Dominic Ayini is a senior lawyer who has a lot of respect for the Supreme Court judges and will never spew contemptuous speech.
“Dominic Ayini is a respected lawyer and he will not say anything that will amount to contempt. We all should advise ourselves and respect senior colleagues especially in law”. Mr. Sammy Gyamfi noted.
Andrew Egyapa Mercer on his part advised Sammy Gyamfi to lead the fight. He believes Sammy Gyamfi is known for raining insults on politicians who are older than him.
