W/R: Alleged Kidnapper almost lynched by residents


My News Ghana indicates that there has been an alleged failed to kidnap attempt on a young girl (name withheld) in New Takoradi, a fishing community in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis this morning.

The suspect who was almost lynched by residents was saved by the timely intervention of the Ghana Police.

And he is currently in the custody of the police for further interrogation into the allegation of kidnapping.

Confirming the arrest to My News Ghana‘s content Editor, Odiasempa, the Takoradi Divisional Police commander DCOP Dut Theoroka said the suspect was arrested by some youths in the area and handed him over to the police.

According to him, the suspect is yet to be interrogated to pave way for further investigations.

He said the youths who made the arrest alleged that the suspect who happens to be a stranger, came to spy the town two weeks ago and went back to where he came from.

The youths, according to the commander, allegedly saw the suspect today in the town attempting to kidnap a young girl which led to his arrest after they attempted to lynch him.

Ruth Quayson, Priscilla Blessing Bentum, and Priscilla Koranchie were reported kidnapped between August 2018 and January 2019.

The main suspect in the kidnapping case, Sam Udoetuk Wills, is currently before a court after he escaped jail in December 2018 following his first arrest.

Friends and family of the young ladies have held protests to push for their rescue and have petitioned the President and the Sekondi Regional Coordinating Council for the same.
