The University of Professional Studies is set to conduct its 2019/2020 end of semester examination online starting Monday, 18th May 2020.
The examination is expected to take up six (6) weeks, ending on Wednesday, June 17, 2020.
Vice-Chancellor of the school, Professor Abednego Feehi Okoe Amartey, speaking on Joy News said the school arrived at this decision after weeks of virtual learning which took the form of provision of lecture notes as well as pre-recorded lectures.
According to Prof Amartey, the school changed its initial Zoom cloud meetings after complaints of unstable mobile network and data challenges by the students and resorted to providing the necessary teaching and learning materials on their various online platforms accessible to all students.
The school will go on a long vacation after the examination and resume for the 2021 semester.
“Each University is different and therefore the approach is different. At UPSA first thing we did was to upload the lecture notes, initially, we started doing the live zoom teachings but issues with data and network set in so we changed course and what we have done now is to pre-record all the lectures and posted them on our online platforms.
“That means the student can always have the lecture notes and the pre-recorded lectures as well. There are assignments they also take. Officially we ended our lectures this week and we have come up with a timetable and exams is supposed to start on 18th of May this month all things being equal so basically, that’s the UPSA approach and we are not losing much and the exams should take us about 6 weeks and then we’ll go on our normal long vac and therefore we wait till the semester resumes in 2021 then we start again,” Prof Amartey said in the interview monitored by ABC News.
Below is an examination timetable for Bachelor of Law students. The rest of the timetable can be found on the website of the University.
