Transport fares up; Passengers to pay 10% more from Monday


Patrons of public transport will from Monday, September 16 pay more on transportation following an announcement of an increment in fares by the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) on Tuesday, September 10, ABC News told can report.

A statement released by the union says effective September 16, public transport fares will go up by 10 per cent covering intra-city transportation known as Trotro, intercity or long distance trips and shared taxis.

Explaining the basis for the increment, the union said the various components that go into the running of commercial transport services have gone up.
