The vetting of Ministerial nominees appointed by President Akuffo Addo to assist in his second is ongoing. Ghanaians have witnessed series of drama and flaring tempers as some Ministers-Designate were been grilled by the Committee.
Among the Ministers-Designate who have completed their vetting include Ministers-Designate for Health, Education, Energy, Attorney General and others who have put in their best their possible best to impress the Committee.
Former Member of Parliament for Tamale Central constituency and a Lawyer, Honourable Inusah Fuseini has made a declaration about the vetting. He has expressed satisfaction in the quality of the questions being asked by the Committee Members. According to him, he is certain the Committee will not disapprove any nominee selected by the President.
Unexpectedly, he jumped to the defense of Madam Hawa Koomson over calls for her disapproval by the Appointment Committee. He asserts that, any minister who meets the minimum requirements of the constitution cannot be rejected on basis of proficiency in a language.
Speaking in an interview on Joy Newsfile program hosted by Lawyer Samson Anyenini today, February 20, 2021 he called on government to provide alternative structures for people to make their submissions during vetting.
“What we are calling on the state to do is to provide facilities that will enable people to be able to express themselves in language they are comfortable with. Their speeches or debates can be interpreted smoothly.”
“Qualification is an issue but proficiency in English is not an issue. It is stated in Article 78 and the Committee makes sure any nominee who satisfies the minimum criteria approved.”
