Supreme Court has given us the go-ahead; registration starts on June 30 – EC


The Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) has assured Ghanaians that, following the verdict of Supreme Court on the case involving it and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), compilation of the new register will start on the 30th of June 2020 and end on the 6th of August 2020 as scheduled.

In a press release, issued on Thursday and signed by the EC’s Acting Director of Public Affairs, the EC reminded Ghanaians that the compilation will done in compliance with CI 126 with stipulates that either a Ghana Card or a passport are acceptable documents for registration, and in the absence of both, persons can be vouched for by two persons who have already registered for and have been issued with the new voter ID.

The release assured Ghanaians that strict safety protocols against the new coronavirus disease pandemic will be strictly adhered to.
