A staunch member of the New Patriotic Party, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko has described claims by Asiedu Nketia that government has halted public events as part of plans to rig December 2020 elections as reckless and a threat to national security.
Asiedu Nketia in a video that has gone viral on social media, the NDC scribe was heard saying moves by government to contain the Coronavirus is just a move to make the world feel he’s fighting the deadly virus but the real deal is government is finding ways of putting the dots together so it can rig 2020 elections.
His comments have received backlash for various Ghanaians who have described him as insensitive and his comments an affront to the peace of the country
One of such people is Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko who believes the General’s statement was reckless and should not be encouraged.
To him, it could have serious repercussions on the laid down procedures government has put in place because some of General’s followers may take his comments as gospel and defy government’s directives.
“All jokes aside, what Aseidu Nketia did by linking the President’s declared measures to combat the spread of Covid-19 to a ludicrous plot to rig elections this December was plain reckless. What if some NDC supporters, however small, believe the words of their General Secretary to be gospel and, therefore, slack in protecting themselves and society against the spread of the virus? Not everything is about votes, General!”. He stated
