President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo earlier today delivered the State of the Nation Address (SONA) in Parliament on Tuesday, January 5, 2021.
Amongst some of the salient topics he touched was the election petition that the National Democratic Congress has dragged to the Supreme Court. According to the president, the development is a healthy one applauded John Dramani Mahama for taking that step to enhance Ghana’s democracy.
“I recognize my main opponent in the election has gone to the Supreme Court to seek their intervention over his concerns on the outcome of the polls. It is good for the nation that in the end, he chose the legal path instead of the pockets of violence that attended the immediate aftermath of the elections,” the President told Parliamentarians in his last State of the Nation Address for his first tenure in office.
