Six new Covid-19 deaths recorded as cases soar -Full Details

Ghana’s coronavirus case count has risen yet again as 371 new infections have been recorded.

Six patients have also lost their lives, according to the latest statistics on the management of the disease in the country.

Among the new deaths is a 24-year-old lady from the Oti Region.

Two are from the Northern Region, two are from the Central Region and the last person is from the Western Region.

This brings the total number of deaths since the outbreak of the disease to 135.

So far, 23,834 cases have been recorded with a total of 19,212 patients recovered or discharged.

This leaves the country with 4,487 active cases under management and care at health facilities scattered across the country.

Among these patients, 24 are said to be in “severe” conditions and six are in “critical” conditions. Five are depending on ventilators for survival.

Ghana’s cases have been recorded after 325,450 tests since the suspicion of the virus started being reported.

Regional breakdown

The recent deaths, for the first time in many months, have not involved patients in the Greater Accra and Ashanti regions though they have the highest number of cases.

While Greater Accra Region has so far recorded 13,194 cases, the Ashanti Region has recorded 5,078 cases.

The Western Region and the Central Region follow next in that order.
