Sam George must be arrested and charged for ‘storming’ EC’s meeting – Lawyer

Private legal practitioner, Gary Nimako Marfo has called for the arrest of the Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, Sam Nartey George for “invading” the Electoral Commission’s meeting with some NDC footsoldiers over the weekend.
According to the lawyer, the besieging of the City Escape Hotel, the venue for the EC’s meeting by the member of parliament including other party supporters was an unlawful assembly hence the police must arrest him and level charges against him.
Speaking in an interview monitored by ABC News on Monday morning, the lawyer argued that although Sam George had obtained a court injunction to prevent the EC from organizing its training workshop in Prampram, it is not within his [Sam George] power to enforce the ruling of the court hence has no business besieging the premise of EC’s meeting with the party faithful.
“Sam George cannot depend on his own power and will and go to undertake enforcement of the law at the Escape Hotel in Accra. What they did over there is an unlawful assembly. He must be arrested and charged by the police, ” Lawyer Gary Nimako Marfo said.
Some supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), led by some of its Members of Parliament and National Executives gathered at the City Escape Hotel in Accra over an alleged workshop being held by the Electoral Commission (EC).
