President Akufo Addo and EC Boss will wipe you out with corona virus- NDC to Ghanaians ahead of elections of 2020

At an earlier press briefing in Accra on behalf of 6 political parties who have constituted themselves into the inter- party resistance against new voters register, NDC General Secretary Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketsia did not mince words when he decried government’s ill- commitment towards the fight against the deadly corona virus.

Instead, he alleged that what mattered to the EC Boss and her powerful surrogates in government was to rip off the ghanaian tax payer to the tune of over 800 million dollars through compilation of a new voters register.

In the General Secretary’s words, this move was intended to enrich selected few as opposed to they committing vital resources towards worthy causes such as the containment of the fast- spreading corona virus.

The NDC who described the EC’s move as ‘irrational’ drew home the number of Civil Society Organisations who had opposed this action including Imani Africa, GII, IDEG, ASEPA, CDD and Occupy Ghana just to mention a few.

This together with emerging revelations that the vendors of the current machines have contested claims by the EC that the machines were obsolete and that a new register was justified having their view confirmed what they’ve been demanding all along.

Quoting response from representative of Genkey Africa, manufacturers of the current BVDs which is seeking to be changed by Mr Nketsia revealed that in the view of that company, the current software though upgradable were not obsolete and further argued that his outfit had tabled in a request to support the EC manage the already tried and tested Voter Management System.

The NDC reminded Ghanaians that the under- contestation register had delivered 5 successful elections since its inception in 2012 including the NPP’s famous win in 2016. The EC Chairperson was challenged to publish report by the consultant on the basis for new register as she had claimed…
