Even before nominations are open for the flagbearer contest of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Vice president Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia appears to be winning some influential individuals in the party to his side for obvious reasons.
According to snippets of information gathered by MyNewsGh.com, a Deputy General Secretary of the NPP Lawyer Obiri Boahen is picking an interest to lead the campaign of Dr. Bawumia in order to get him elected as NPP flagbearer for the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.
Nana Obiri Boahen who initially confirmed his interest to run for the party’s General Secretary post has rescinded his decision to help Dr. Bawumia’s presidential ambition.
“I am not on any board neither do I hold an appointment in my own government so I will not decline an opportunity to become Campaign Manager if I have to. I thought of contesting for the General Secretary post but that could be done later”, Lawyer Obiri Boahen stated during a radio interview monitored by MyNewsGh.com
This comes after a leading Communication team member of the party in the Ashanti Region, Mr. Raphael Sarfo Patrick vowed to resist machinations against Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia to lead NPP in 2024.
According to outspoken Communicator, youth in the party across the party are ever ready to defend and protect every legacy Vice president until the party elects a flagbearer for the 2020 polls.
The known staunch supporter of Vice president Dr Mahamadu Bawumia on Kumasi-based Wontumi TV/Radio, therefore, threatened to name key members of the party both regional and national levels doing everything humanly possible to end the presidential ambition of the former Governor of Bank of Ghana.
“We are not going to sleep. We’ll defend and protect Dr. Bawumia 24/7 from insults and lies that might emanate from the people. We will expose people of we have to. Those hatching “B” should rescind their decision”, Mr. Raphael Sarfo Patrick warned.
