NPP Kumasi Conference in ‘limbo’ as disappointed youth beat war drums

Deputy General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has revealed that the party’s grassroots in the Ashanti Region are crying over neglect and vowing to do the unthinkable ahead of the conference.


He disclosed that the agitated footsoldiers mostly youth who stormed the Regional Secretariat vowed to kick against the impending conference t be held in the Kumasi Metropolis from 17th December to 2021 to 19th December

“There were threatening whatever will happen in Kumasi shall happen. They kicked against the impending conference claiming they have been neglected. Most of them disclosed that since the party came into power, they have not benefitted from their sweat while some of the leaders are enjoying”, he revealed on Accra-based Okay Fm monitored by

According to him, he was called to intervene to calm the nerves of the leadership of the agitated footsoldiers with the hope that they will be sorted.

“I had to speak with them with respect in order to stop them from embarking on any action that may disrupt the impending national delegates conference. They listened to me”, he revealed.

Nana Obiri Boahen said people like him are pivotal in the NPP keeping power and breaking the 8 contrary to what many say he is one of the major problems of the party.

“Some of us sacrificed for the party since 1992. Others have sacrificed more than me. Today when I spoke on one of the radio stations everything was calm. People like us are required to run a political party. As a lawyer, I have contributed immensely by providing legal services to party people than any other lawyer in this country. Why then will people say when I speak a lot of members leave the party”, he asked
