The former Member of Parliament(MP) of the Kwadaso constituency in the Ashanti region, Josephine Hilda Addo has insisted that she has not been disqualified by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in their upcoming parliamentary primaries, MyNewsGh.com reports.
The First National Vice Chairman of the party, Frederick Freduah Antoh disclosed in a media interview earlier this week that Hilda Addo has been disqualified from the party’s parliamentary primaries on grounds of misconduct and continuous disparaging of some party officials.
But in a reaction, Hilda Addo told Kwame Adinkra on Friday [June 5] on Kumasi-based Pure FM monitored by MyNewsGh.com that contrary to what Mr. F.F Antoh stated, she is still contesting in the party’s primaries as she was cleared at the constituency and regional level during her vetting.
She continued that she is surprise by the comment of the party’s Vice Chair and she can only deem it to be an approach to settle personal scores of which she isn’t aware of.
Four candidates are aspiring for the Kwadaso parliamentary seat in the forthcoming NPP primaries.
Two of them, Mr. Vincent Yaw Frimpong Manu and Dr. Kingsley Nyarko, are seen to be Nana Addo “boys” having been given appointments by the current administration as Deputy Chief Executive Officer in charge of Development Projects and Operations and Executive Secretary of the National Accreditation Board (NAB) respectively.
The other pair, Mrs. Hilda Addo, a former Member of Parliament and the incumbent MP, Dr. Samiu Kwadwo Nuamah, is identified as belonging to the Alan Cash faction.
They believe the incumbent MP has very little to show for the three years he has occupied the parliamentary seat while Mrs. Hilda Addo was unseated by Dr. Afriyie Akoto Osei.
The NPP has set June 20, 2020 to conduct its primaries.
