NDC Suspends Regional Communications Officer, Five Others Over Ramadan Sugar

Authentic information available to us has confirmed the suspension of about five regional officers from the opposition National Democratic Congress in the Northern region indefinitely, over the alleged unlawful distribution of Ramadan sugar without the information of the regional party chairman, Ibrahim Mobila.

Some of the officials who were handed over their suspension letters told  Radio Tamale’s Robicon Mornahson explaining that, the Regional Secretary of the party, Mohammed Abdul Salam read out the reasons behind their suspension at an executive meeting last Friday, May 1, 2020, at the parties regional office in Tamale.

However speaking to an executive member of the party in the region (name withheld), disclosed that the meeting which was held at the party’s regional office with all executives both elected and appointed present except the first vice Chairman, Alhaji Hassan Rufai Ahmed Veilim who is among the affected officers in the suspension, the directive is with immediate effect.

The said officers in this decision are; Communication officer of the party, Abdul Muhmin Alhassan (General Amin) and his Deputy, Hardi Paghazaa, first vice-chairman Alhaji Hassan Rufai Ahmed Veilim and two other Tamale North constituency executives, Treasurer, Mr Inusah Salman Fariz and his Deputy Mohammed Mateen.

Some of the affected officers who acknowledge receipt of the letter form the party have however rubbish the decision by the chairman, sighting Article 46 (1) of the party’s constitution to back their reason.

In a telephone interview with radio temale’s reporter Umar Abdul Shakur, the NDC Northern region secretary, Mr Mohammed Abdul Salam denied any comments on the matter but indicated that the matter was not for the Media.

However, sources have revealed that the parties disciplinary committee has been triggered on the matter and there will be a meeting on Thursday to ascertain the next line of action against the officers.
