The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Monday April 13, approved the disbursement of $1 billion to be drawn under the Rapid Credit Facility (RCF).
The money is to help Ghana address the “fiscal and balance of payments needs” and also help the country to improve confidence in its economy especially in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This follows an earlier request made by the country for financial support to aid in the Covid-19 fight.
As at midnight on Monday, April 13, Ghana has recorded 566 confirmed cases of the virus with 8 deaths.
According to the Ghana Health Service, 292 out of the 566 confirmed cases were reported from the routine surveillance, 159 from enhanced surveillance activities and 115 from travelers under mandatory quarantine in both Accra and Tamale.
