Traders at the Kumasi Central Market have expressed disappointment in the Ashanti Regional Minister and the Kumasi Mayor for evacuating them from the market without getting the market they have been asked to move-in ready.
The traders were evacuated from the market over the weekend and asked to move to the Abinkyi and Racecourse markets to pave way for the second phase of the Kumasi Kejetia-Central Market redevelopment project.
But the traders told OTECNEWS that because the markets they were supposed to move-in are not ready, they had to pack their goods home and wait.
They, however, expressed disappointment in the regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah, and the Kumasi Mayor, Osei Assibey Antwi for evacuating them without preparing the markets they were to relocate in since it will negatively affect their business.
The traders at Zone One and Two of the market had earlier refused to relocate to the Abinkyi and Racecourse markets, despite the 7 March 2021 deadline given to them.
