A police sergeant William Kusi Abora is currently in critical condition after he was knocked down by a commercial vehicle otherwise known as trotro in Kumasi.
The injured officer MyNewsGh.com gathered also alighted from a commercial passenger vehicle at a section of the road at the Sofoline Interchange.
He was reporting for duty to relieve the last-out duty officer at the Charge Office but whilst walking at the shoulder of the road at North Suntreso, he was knocked down by an unknown commercial vehicle.
The vehicle sped off after the impact. The officer managed to crawl away from the main road to avoid being run over by other speeding vehicles as it was also raining at the time.
No one was around to identify the make or the registration number of the hit-and-run vehicle but he was rushed to the Suntreso Government Hospital by other Policemen who had the information and rushed to the scene.
Sources reveal that the victim has since been referred to the Accident and Emergency Unit of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital where he is on oxygen support.
