The executive director of Save Ghana Foundation Mr. Kofi Adjei speaking in an interview with Kumasi-based Abusua Fm Morning Show hosted by Kojo Marfo and monitored by expressed worry about the slow completion of Sofoline Interchange and other major road projects in the ancient town.

“We trusted President Akufo-Addo and voted massively for NPP to bring massive developmental projects to Ashanti Region but he and his NPP government have neglected their stronghold Ashanti Region in terms of development” Kofi Adjei said.

“Road Minister promised Ashanti Region with 5 Interchanges but nothing shows that government is ready to fulfill that promise. Completion of Sofoline Interchange has been terribly slow while Pokuase Interchange has been completed. It seems President Akufo-Addo and NPP want to take Ashanti Region for granted”.

Kofi Adjei added “In 2014, I embarked on a one-man demonstration against former President John Dramani Mahama and NDC and I’m preparing to embark on another demonstration dubbed #FixKumasi against President Akufo-Addo’s government”.

The founder and leader of United Progressive Party Akwasi Addai Odike who pledged to join the demonstration said President Akuffo-Addo and NPP deceived Ashanti Region and Otumfuo Osei Tutu II with campaign promises just to win more votes in Ashanti Region.

“Before 2020 general elections, majority of the people in Ashanti Region decided not to vote so NPP and President Akufo-Addo planned to give the region promises which they believe if the party wins power, government will never fulfill those promises” Odike said.

“All the roads which were awarded on contract before the elections have been abandoned because government is unable to pay the contractors”.
