The opposition National Democratic Congress has lashed out at the National Youth Organiser of the governing New Patriotic Party, Henry Nana Boakye, for insisting former President John Mahama ought to apologise for his comments against the Electoral Commission’s decision to compile a new voters’ register.
The former President divulged that the EC should be prepared to take responsibility for any acts of violence or situations that may mar the conduct of the 2020 elections should it go ahead with its proposed creation of a new voters’ register.
However, addressing a gathering of TESCON members in Ho, on Monday, the Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, called out John Mahama, the flagbearer of the opposition party, suggesting his comments were unpalatable and ‘irresponsible’.
“…His Excellency the Former President, with the greatest of respect, for me, he has been reckless and irresponsible in his comments. Recently, he said, that if the EC should go ahead with the new voter’s register, there’ll be chaos and anarchy; how can a former President talk like that?” the NPP’s Youth Organiser quizzed.
While boosting that the governing party has always respected the laws of the land, he urged the former president to do same and in humility apologise for the comments made.
