Ghanaians weep over gov’t decision to build an award house

Users of Twitter have expressed disappointment at the President of Ghana’s move to build an award house.

The President in a post on his social media handles indicated that he had cut sod for the building of an award house.

“On Wednesday, 7th April 2021, I cut the sod for the commencement of construction of the “Ghana Award House” – a new administrative building for the Head of State Award Scheme.Since its inception in 1967, the Award Scheme has challenged and touched the lives of many young Ghanaians. Not only has the Scheme challenged them to find their true purpose, passion and place, but it has also enhanced the employability skills and competencies, giving them the opportunity to serve the nation in various voluntary capacities. Ghana will be the second country in Africa, after the Presidents’ Award of Kenya, and one of the few countries globally, to have its own administrative office.”

According to people complaining about the development, the President is losing it and has no proper priorities.

They claim that there are several shortcomings in the Free SHS policy and also Ghana’s health care system which needs urgent attention but the President of Ghana thinks that an award house is the best for the country at the moment.
