Ghana and Besiktas JK midfielder, Bernard Mensah has tested positive for coronavirus.
Besiktas Health Board Coordinator Dr. Tekin Kerem Ülkü announced that a 25-year-old midfielder has been tested positive for the deadly virus.
“The routine Covid-19 PCR test applied by our club on the return of our football player Bernard Mensah to the Ghana National Team camp where he was invited, was positive,” a club statement said.
“Bernard Mensah’s follow-up and treatment process was initiated in accordance with the relevant protocols.”
Mensah, who joined the Eagles on loan from Kayserispor was part of the Black Stars squad that lost 3-0 to Mali in an international friendly on Friday.
Mensah was unused in Ghana’s game against Qatar. He has been quarantined by his club medical team in Turkey.
The dynamic midfielder becomes a second member of the Black Stars team to test positive for COVID-19 after Jones Abu Alhassan.
