All students in Ghana have been at home since the closure of Schools in the country, in March 2020.
The Government closed all schools in the country to help prevent the spread of the covid-19 pandemic which struck every country around the world.
On 3rd January 2021, the president announced the reopening of all schools in the country, but a few days after the president’s announcement, the coronavirus case in the country started rising fearfully.
The rises in the cases of the covid-19 have put fears in some parents, students, and teachers, with some calling on the president to stop the re-opening of basic schools (Kindergarten and primary schools).
The latest press release from the Ghana Education Service (GES), signed by Mr. Cassandra Twum Ampofo, the Head of Public Relations, has announced the official re-opening of all schools in the country, on Monday 18th January 2021. GES wishes to inform all students, teachers, parents and the general public to take note that, all schools must do their clean-ups on Monday, to prepare for class on Tuesday 19th January 2021.
The management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) again wishes to inform the public that, it has put in place mechanisms to help ensure that, all schools especially the basic schools (Kindergarten and primary schools) go through safe teaching and learning conditions.
The press release also stated that all students, parents, teachers, and the general public must ensure that, all schools are made safe for teaching.
