EC’s full argument presented to Supreme Court as basis for disallowing existing voter ID as primary identification document

The Electoral Commission of Ghana has submitted to the apex court their legal basis for disallowing the use of the existing voter ID card as proof of identification document in the upcoming voter registration exercise.

This follows a directive by the Supreme Court on June 4, 2020, ordering the Electoral Commission to furnish the court on reasons why it is excluding the voter ID Card as the primary source of identification.

Against this backdrop, the Electoral Commission on Monday, June 8, 2020, submitted their legal arguments to the Supreme Court through their lawyers.

According to the orders of the court, the hearing of the case is set to begin on June 11, 2020.
