Police have started serious investigation surrounding how Benedicta Abena Pokua, wife of K.K. Sarpong’s driver was shot dead Saturday evening by unknown assailants while driving out of the forecourt of Joefel Restaurant at Dichemso, a suburb of Kumasi just when she swapped cars with her husband at the eatery.
Already, the husband had hinted in interviews he granted after her death that he suspected he was the main target as the assailants mistook the driver of the Range Rover as him when it was his wife.
Nana Prempeh told host of a show on Akoma FM Aduanaba Kofi Asante Ennin that “while on our way from Joefel Restaurant, my wife was driving my white Range Rover.
“She was driving ahead of me while I was in a different car. All what I saw was someone had rushed her and opened gun fire at her. They shot multiple times and sped off.”
While investigation is ongoing, questions are flying all over the place about the incident and the circumstance of her murder.
The Police are on a manhunt for the six persons who allegedly shot and killed Benedicta at the Airport Roundabout area in Kumasi.
The incident happened at around 1am when the six, armed and aboard a grey Toyota Camry, attacked the deceased who was on board a white Range Rover with a customised number plate Prempeh-1-21.
They allegedly shot her through the right window of her vehicle and sped off towards Aboabo.
According to police, while the incident looked like a robbery gone wrong, it was not ruling out contract killing as the motive behind the act.
