Nigerian government has suspended Twitter operations in their country.
This follows the deletion of a tweet made by the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari using the Nigerian Civil War to warn his critics in South East that he will treat them in a language they understand.
Twitter found the tweet offensive following several reports from Nigerians for Twitter to delete the tweet like how they used to do to Donald Trump.
Days after Twitter deleted that tweet, the Federal Government of Nigeria has suspended Twitter activities in Nigeria.
The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, announced the suspension in a statement issued in Abuja on Friday, citing “the persistent use of the platform for activities that are capable of undermining Nigeria’s corporate existence”.
