There were clashes between personnel from the Counter-Terrorism Unit (CTU) of the Ghanaian Police Service and military personnel from Operation Motherland at Juapong and Adomi Bridge.
The two clashed after military detachment personnel hit a phone from the hand of a CTU staff on Operation Motherland at Juapong and on the Adomi bridge who continuously disrespected the police, Amin Kailebie hit a phone from the hand of a CTU staff and caused harm to it in the process.
Ghana Police Service personnel mobilized forces to push through the Adomi Bridge to demonstrate their indignation. But with the Juapong District Officer’s timely intervention, the situation would have been different from the person’s rage and frustration.
Reports suggest that this was not the first time that military personnel were insubordinate to police personnel as one Staff Sergeant Ahiave obtained serial numbers of CTU staff side arms and on two occasions the aforementioned Staff Sergeant took CTU staff ID cards and tried to take pictures of the ID’s situation that the CTU staff vehemently opposed.
After DSP Mr Ben Samani, DSP Mr Sackitey, Officer I/c of the Western Togoland Police Detachment Duties at Juapong, Lieutenant Yakubu 66 Artillery Regiment Commander at Juapong and Lieutenant Mensah, Inspr Ackah and W.O.1 Dorgbefu met, the problem is said to have been resolved.
The resolution progressed efficiently without any hitches or accidents. Both commanders decided to force their subordinates to behave and maintain peace responsibly and within the scope of the law.
