Awutu senya east security counsil to embark on compulsory “operation wear nose mask” at Kasoa

The Awutu Senya East Municipal Assembly is considering the possibility of making wearing nose mask compulsory for all residents in the locality, especially, those engaged in trading activities.

According to the Assembly, the measure is to help protect the residents from contracting or passing on the coronavirus (COVID-19) which has since its outbreak in the country, affected 1,154 lives with 120 recoveries.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Michael Mensah, who revealed this in an interview on Kasoa-based Pink FM monitored by Kasapafmonline.com on Wednesday, said the measure to contain the spread of the coronavirus has become so critical that the Assembly will not compromise on the safety of its residents.

We are considering the possibility of making wearing a nose mask compulsory. We may come out to make an announcement that if you don’t put on a nose mask, you will not be allowed to sell or buy in the market because that is our waterloo in the area. The only market in the middle from Mallam to Winneba is Kasoa market. So, if we don’t put in proactive measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, you can never anticipate who will be passing on the virus to another person”, he noted.

At the time of filing this report, the Municipal Security Council (MUSEC) was meeting to review all the security measures they have put in place to ensure the safety of residents of Kasoa.

One of the items that is high on the agenda of the MUSEC is the wearing of nose mask as urged by President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, in his recent address to the nation over updates on measures to curtail the coronavirus pandemic.
