Abdul Hayi Moomen of GTV Receives Fresh Life Threats; See Full Details of the Threat Message

A broadcast Journalist with the States Broadcaster GTV Abdul Hayi Moomen says his life is at risk after threats from some unknown men.

According to a post he shared on Facebook, he said the people indicated that they know his residence and will deal with him.

The Journalist has since reported the case to the case to the Police.

His post on Facebook read “I have lodged an official complaint to the Nima police. But should anything happen to me or any member of my family, please help them to track the guy in black (it’s the best shot I could get of him under the circumstances). He and his friends have threatened to deal with me”.

Adding that “They say they know where I live and that, that job will be easy”.

Meanwhile, the Abdul Hayi Moomen has deleted the post which according to him, was because of advise that the police has dealt with it.

“I have been advised to delete the post because the police have handled it.”

Meanwhile, Journalist, Manasseh Azure has disclosed on Accra-based Joy News’ News File that he has received threats from unknown persons for his latest article on the electoral commission.

On Monday Morning, it was widely reported that Captain Smart’s house was raided by armed robbers who warned him there will be series of attacks because he is supporting the NPP.

But Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has charged the Ghana Police Service to Investigate the matter and ensure that finality is brought to the attacks and threats on the lives of Journalists.

He indicated that there is the need to protect Ghana’s enviable record of been a protector of Journalists.

“A number of journalists have reported threats and at least one (1) robbery in the aftermath of the 2020 elections. It has been suggested that these threats are associated with their work as journalists. It is of critical importance that our security agencies get to the bottom of these complaints and use all the legitimate means at their disposal to unmask the identities of the culprits – whatever their motives – and arrest and prosecute them with speed. Ghana’s enviable reputation as a protector of journalists’ rights and freedoms must be preserved. Manasseh Awuni, Captain Smart, Afia Pokua et al, my thoughts are with you.”
